Why does the sun appear white at noon?

When the sun is overhead, the sun’s light has lesser air to travel through. Due to this scattering of the sun’s light from dust and other particles is reduced, and most of the components in white light reach our eyes. So, scattering is reduced if the distance to be travelled in the air is reduced. Hence, the sun appears white at noon.
