Detailed Solution

The Buxa Tiger Reserve in West Bengal has been threatened by the loss of many species due to Mining. Forest depletion has a long history in India. Since the Britisher's rule, it started and is continuing till now. We are left with only( 22.78%) of forest cover, which is less than the required forest cover according to our country's land surface ( required is 33% ).
During the colonisation time, the Britishers' introduction and expansion of railways, mining activities and commercial and scientific forestry was the greatest damage to our forest cover. The increment in agriculture on a large scale too.
In West Bengal state's Buxa Tiger Reserve, Mining is still the main factor contributing to its depletion.
