Detailed Solution

Concept: Banking of a road is the process of lifting the outer edge of a road over its inner edge at a specific angle. The angle of banking is the name given to this angle.
When a car travels around a curved road, centripetal force is required. The vehicle's wheels have a tendency to depart the curved path and return to the straight line path as it rounds the curve. The friction between the wheels and the road opposes the wheels' tendency. As a result, the friction force works towards the center of the circular track, providing the required centripetal force.
This banking of the road is done in order to provide the necessary centripetal force to the vehicles so that they can take a safe turn. Centripetal force is defined as the force that pulls or pushes an object toward the center of a circle as it travels, causing angular or circular motion. Therefore, the banking of roads is done to provide necessary centripetal force required for circular motion of the vehicle.
Hence, option 2 is correct.
