Swimming pool of water appears to be less deep than what it actually is Refraction of Light
Light bends at the interface between two mediums when it travels between them. This is called Refraction of Light. We cannot see the actual pool bottom when gazing into a body of water. We get a virtual glimpse of the pool's bottom. This occurs as a result of the way that light rays from the pool's bottom bend as they exit the water and enter the atmosphere. Light refraction is the term used to describe this phenomenon. Due to this, as shown in the figure, the pool bottom appears to be closer to us and the pool appears to be shallower.Question Image
