Detailed Solution

Ashoka was a unique ruler because he was the only ruler who tried to spread the message of dhamma to the people through his various inscriptions. Ashoka gave up the conquest of Kalinga after winning the war because of the amount of deaths and destruction he had to encounter. The policy of Dhamma that Ashoka introduced was not similar to any kind of worship to God or performing any sacrifices. Ashoka considered it his duty to instruct people to minimise any fights or conflicts among them, like a father’s responsibility towards his children.
