Gandhi-Irwin pact was formed when Civil disobedience faced a brutal response; large-scale attacks on Satyagrahis and Protesters were arrested. The violent response against civil disobedience forced Gandhiji to call off this movement. According to this pact, Gandhiji agreed to participate in London's second round table conference. And the colonial government decided to release all the political prisoners imprisoned during the civil disobedience movement. The calling of this movement and the signing of the pact was because the movement faced a brutal response from the British government. Satyagrahis were attacked on a large scale. Women and children were also not spared and were poorly beaten, and thousands of protesters were arrested.
