Detailed Solution

A Simon commission was sent to India to look into the functioning of the Indian constitutional system and suggest reforms. It was appointed in November 1927. All the members of the Simon Commission were Europeans(white). The purpose of the formation of the Simon Commission was to make reforms and keep a check on the functionality of Indians. Simon commission arrived in India in 1928 however, it was boycotted by all Indians with the slogan of “Simon go back”. The reason behind the Simon commission formation was the provision of its formation as mentioned in the Government of India Act 1919.
