The Gandhi Irwin Pact was a political pact signed by Mahatma Gandhi and the then Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin, on March 5, 1931, before the Second World Conference in London. The Indian National Congress participated in the Second Round Table Conference. Many demands were put forward, such as the withdrawal of all laws issued by the British Government enforcing an exercise test of the Indian National Congress and the release of prisoners held during the Civil Disobedience Movement. In addition, it allowed the free collection or production of salt by people near the coast.
