Detailed Solution

World War I was fought between Central Powers and Allies. The First World War started in 1914 because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria by a Bosnian Serb, Gaverilo Princep, in Sarajevo. This incident triggered the world nations to align into two parts; supporting and opposing Austria. The Central Powers comprised Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Italy (later Italy went to the Allies group), and the Allies group had France, Britain and Russia. The war lasted for four years, from 1914 to 1918. The Versailles Treaty is one of the aftermath events of World War I, and it also became a triggering factor for the following World War II.
