In-situ conversation is the process of protecting an animal species in its natural habitat.
Ecologically unique and biodiversity rich region are legally protected as
i. Biosphere Reserve : An area which is set aside, minimally disturbed for the conversation of resources. E.g., Seshachalam Hills
ii. National Park : This is a natural habitat strictly reserved for the protection of natural life. E.g., Jim Corbette National park
iii. Sanctuaries : Specific endangered faunal species are well protected in wild life sanctuaries. E.g., Koringa sanctuary, A.P
iv. Sacred grooves : A smaller group of trees which are important to a particular religion. E.g., Khasi and Jaintia hills, Meghalaya
