Anisole reacts with Acetyl chloride in the presence of anhydrous AlCl₃ to form 4-Methoxyacetophenone as major product.
c) Nitration:

Anisole reacts with a mixture of Conc.HNO₃ and Conc.H₂SO₄ to Form 4-NitroAnisole as major product.
