Neutral oxides are oxides that do not show acidic or basic properties when dissolved in water. They neither form acids nor bases.

Examples of Neutral Oxides

Neutral Oxide	Chemical Formula	Properties
Carbon monoxide	CO	Colorless, odorless gas; burns in air to form CO₂.
Nitrous oxide	N₂O	Known as laughing gas; colorless and supports combustion.
Nitric oxide	NO	Colorless gas; combines with oxygen to form NO₂.

General Properties

They are insoluble or only slightly soluble in water.
They do not react with acids or bases.
They are formed mainly by non-metals in low oxidation states.

Neutral oxides play important roles in the atmosphere and are used in industries and medicine (like nitrous oxide in anesthesia).
