Detailed Solution

Decantation method is used to separate ghee from the residue.
The mixture of ghee and the residue is of two layers. Since the residue is in solid state, it is present in the bottom layer. Ghee is present in the top layer because it is in its liquid form. Therefore the easiest method to separate these two is decantation. The upper layer is gently poured into another beaker. Then filtration can be done afterwards to remove further impurities.
