According to rules of nomenclature given by ICBN, only binomials have to be written in italics but not the family, order, class and division names. Monocotyledonae is a class, Poales is an order, Poaceae is a family and Triticum is generic name. Hence Triticum must be written in italics as Triticum. Species of genus Triticum known as vulgare should also be written in italics as vulgare.
