In Antirrhinum majus when a pink flower was crossed with a red flower. Identify the correct statement w.r.t to this line:

a
1/4th of offspring has red flower, 1/4th of offspring has white flower and 2/4th of offspring has pink flower
b
Pink colour is due to co-dominance.
c
This experiment follows the Principle of Dominance.
d
Law of segregation is followed in this experiment

detailed solution

Correct option is D

Law of segregation states that though the parents contain two alleles during gamete formation, the factors or alleles of a pair segregate from each other such that a gamete receives only one of the two factors. This is applicable for incomplete dominance as well. Pink flower is due to incomplete dominance. This experiment is a deviation from the law of dominance. When plant with pink  flowers is crossed with plant with red flowers then the F2 generation will have 50% pink flower and 50% red flower.
