ATP synthase is an integral part of complex V. It utilizes the energy released during the electron transport system in synthesizing ATP. This complex consists of two major components, F1 and  F0. F1 is ATP synthase and F0 forms the proton channel for facilitated diffusion of protons from perimitochondrial space to matrix.
