Attachment of spindle fibres to kinetochores of chromosomes takes place in the following stage of M phase during a mitotic division.

With the disappearance of nuclear membrane, which marks the beginning of metaphase the spindle fibres invade the nuclear region and some of them get attached to kinetochores of chromosomes to bring all the chromosomes to the equator of the cell.
