Solution

If a gene has 4 alleles, then this is an example of multiple allelism. To calculate the number of genotypes in multiple allelism we use the formula $\frac{n}{2} (n + 1)$ . In this case the genotypes will be $\frac{4}{2} (4 + 1)$ = 10.
