Deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates act as substrates as well as energy sources for polymerisation reaction.Replication is initiated at specific sites of DNA known as origin of replication.On one strand with 3' to 5' polarity the formation of new strand is continuous and in the other strand with 5' to 3' polarity the replication is discontinuous. The discontinuously formed DNA fragments are later joined by DNA ligase.
