Solution

In a turgid cell, the water potential is not equal to its osmotic potential. In a turgid cell the osmotic potential is equal to its pressure potential and as result the water potential of the cell is zero. Osmotic and pressure potentials are equal in magnitude but have opposite sign. Hence the water potential becomes zero.
