The spindle fibers are attached to kinetochores of chromosomes in Metaphase and the attachment is retained till the end of Anaphase. They help in bringing the chromosomes to equator in Metaphase and dividing the chromosome at the centromere and pulling the daughter chromosomes towards respective poles in Anaphase.
