In dicot stems the hypodermis is outer most part of ground tissue system and is made of collenchyma which may be in the form of continuous ring or in patches of collenchyma. General cortex is parenchymatous. Pericycle may be parenchymatous or sclerenchymatous. Conjunctive tissue is parenchymatous and may become fibrous.
