Solanaceae family has 5 fused sepals, 5 fused petals, 5 stamens that are free but exhibit epipetalous condition and the gynoecium is bicarpellary, syncarpous and has the presence of hypogynous ovary. Petunia is an example of Solanaceae family as it exhibits all the above-mentioned floral characters. 
Brassica, Allium and Sesbania do not have these floral characters and thus belong to the Solanaceae family. Brassica belongs to Brassicaceae family, Allium belongs to Liliaceae family and Sesbania belong to Fabaceae family.
