Fluid mosaic model proposed by Singer and Nicolson best explains the structure of plasma membrane or any biological membrane. It states that any biological membrane has bimolecular fluid like lipid zone in which the proteins are distributed in mosaic manner. Some proteins are present on the surface of lipid zone and some are either partially are completely embedded in the membrane.
