Detailed Solution
During plasmolysis the plasma membrane is withdrawn either totally or almost completely from the cell wall and as result there is decrease in the size of protoplast. Since the cell wall is rigid, the cell maintains the same size. The size of vacuole decreases, because it is actually the water present in the vacuole is lost. Since the water content of the cell decreases during plasmolysis, the water potential decreases and pressure potential becomes zero but never negative
