Solution

A stem spreads out branches, flowers, fruits, leaves to promote getting proper amount of light for photosynthesis, pollination, dispersal of fruits and seeds. It is not involved in anchorage. Sometimes it stores food, provides support and protection to the plant. From leaves it transports photosynthates to other parts of the plant such as roots.
