Higher plants have specialized tissues for photosynthesis called mesophyll in their leaves. These tissues contain chloroplasts. Chlorophyll pigment present inside chloroplast helps in trapping light energy coming from Sun. Process of photosynthesis is understood in two parts:
a) Light Reactions that take place in grana of chloroplast
b) Dark Reactions that take place in stroma of chloroplast
