How many ATP and NADPH are required for synthesis of 3 molecules of sucrose in plants?
To form a hexose or to fix 6 molecules of , 30 ATP and 12 NADPH are consumed in cycle.
Sucrose is a disaccharide and contains one molecule of glucose and one molecule of fructose.
Therefore, for the synthesis one sucrose molecule the ATP and NADPH consumed would be double.
So, to synthesize one molecule of sucrose there is the requirement of 30 x 2= 60ATP and 12 x 2= 24 NADPH
Therefore, for synthesis of 3 molecules of sucrose there is requirement of 60 x 3=180 ATP and 24 x 3 = 72 NADPH.
