A mature male gametophyte contain 1 vegetative cell and 1 generative cell. Therefore, for the formation of mature pollen grain there is the requirement of 1 meiosis and 1 mitosis.Microspore Mother Cell (2n) undergoes meiosis and forms microspore (n). The microspores then undergo mitosis to produce vegetative and generative cell.
