Identify the similarity between replication and transcription in E.coli.
For the processes of transcription and replication in E.coli, making and breaking of hydrogen bonds are essential. The hydrogen bonds between the two strands of DNA are first broken and the two strands are available to act as a template in DNA replication and one of the strands for transcription process. In DNA replication, the hydrogen bonds are formed between the template strand and daughter DNA strand. In Transcription, hydrogen bonds are formed between the template DNA strand and RNA and later these hydrogen bonds are broken to release the RNA from the template and to reestablish the hydrogen bonds between the two strands of DNA.
