As the primary root is formed from radicle it enters into the soil to fix the plant in the soil at suitable place. Later it absorbs minerals and water from the soil. Absorbed mineral water is conducted. With the formation of leaves, some of the photosynthates are transported to root where they are stored in the cortex of root.
