A leaf cell of an angiosperm has 44 chromosomes and 50 pg of DNA. What will be the amount of DNA and number of chromosomes in each of its daughter cells after meiosis I in the dyad stage of its meiocyte?
After meiosis I the cell has ‘n’ no. of chromosomes and ‘2c’ amount of DNA
The leaf cell initially has 2n no.of chromosomes and 2c amount of DNA.
In this case 2n=44 chromosomes
2c=50 pg of DNA
During Interphase,
The number of chromosomes remain 2n but the amount of DNA becomes 4c.
Therefore,
2n=44
4c= 100pg
After meiosis I
n= 22 chromosomes
2c=50pg of DNA
