The minerals that are required in large amount, i.e., more than 10 mmol ${Kg}^{- 1}$ are called macronutrients. Macronutrients include Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, phosphorous, sulphur, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
Selenium sodium, silicon and cobalt are beneficial elements.
Micronutrients or trace elements are needed in very small amounts (less than 10 mmol ${Kg}^{- 1}$ of dry matter). These include iron, manganese, copper, molybdenum, zinc, boron, chlorine, and nickel.
