The inner mitochondrial membrane forms a number of infoldings called the cristae (sing.: crista) towards the matrix. Electron transport system (ETS) is present in the inner mitochondrial membrane where several oxidation and reduction reactions take place to produce ATP molecules from NADH and FADH2 molecules.
