Rudolf Virchow stated that new cells are formed from existing cells by division. Leeuwenhoek discovered living cells. Robert Brown discovered nucleus. Theodore Schwann studied different types of animal cells and stated that they are bounded by a thin outer layer presently known as Cell membrane. He also concluded that plant cells have cell wall and proposed that plants and animals are composed of cells and products of cells.
