In guard cells the cellulose fibrils are radially arranged and such arrangement helps in stretching out of dorsal walls or end walls of guard cells. The dorsal walls become more convex and ventral walls become concave in kidney shaped guard cells. In dumbbell shaped guard cells, the ends of cells become swollen and shrunken due to radial arrangement of cellulose microfibrils.
