Main plant body is a sporophyte with the presence of vascular tissues and no development of seeds after fertilization are the characters of pteridophytes. In majority of the pteridophytes all the spores are of similar kind and such plants are described as homosporous. The examples of such pteridophytes are Dryopteris, Lycopodium, Equisetum and Adiantum. Some like Selaginella, on the contrary produce two kinds of spores, mega (large) and micro (small) spores, are described as heterosporous.
