In some plants petiole becomes flat leaf like green and called phyllode. Phyllode synthesises food by photosynthesis and functions as a normal leaf. Eg. : Australian acacia, Parkinsonia. In some leguminous plants the leaf base may become swollen, which is called as pulvinus.
