Split genes are seen in Eukaryotes which have coding and non-coding regions and the RNA formed as coding and non-coding sequences. Such freshly formed RNA due to transcription of split gene is called hnRNA or heterogenous nuclear RNA which is processed by splicing, capping and tailing to convert it to functional mRNA.
