Vascular bundles of monocot stem are oval or ellipsoidal shaped, conjoint, collateral, closed and endarch type. Each vascular bundle has phloem at the periphery and xylem towards the center and has fibrous bundle sheath. They are randomly arranged in the parenchymatous ground tissue (atactostele). Vascular bundles are dissimilar in size. The peripheral vascular bundles are smaller and inner vascular bundles are larger in size. Each vascular bundle has 3 or 4 vessels arrange in the form of V or Y. One of the vessels of protoxylem is broken and forms lysigenous cavity known as protoxylem lacuna. Phloem lacks parenchyma
