Nepenthes is a carnivore or insectivorous plant. It has trap leaves. Lower half of petiole is modified as phyllode, upper half of petiole is modified as tendril, lamina is modified as flask shaped trap and leaf apex is modified as immobile attractive lid like structure. Its petiole helps in carrying out photosynthesis and climbing over the support. Its lamina is modified as a trap to catch, kill and digest the protein part of insect to fulfill its nitrogen requirement as it grows in nitrogen deficient soils.
