Enzyme activates the substrate upon the binding of the substrate at the active site of enzyme. Due to conformation change in the enzyme, the enzyme either weakens the bonds in the substrate and making the substrate more susceptible to catalytic attack. The enzyme may donate or accept protons or electrons from the substrate.
