Nucellus is diploid in nature.
Megaspore mother cell (MMC) is formed from differentiation in the nucellus cell and therefore it is diploid.
Functional megaspore is formed from meiosis in megaspore mother cell and therefore it is haploid.
Female gametophyte is formed from repeated mitosis in the functional megaspore and therefore all the cells in an embryo sac are haploid.
