What would you observe when a cell having solute potential of -10Pa and zero pressure potential is placed in a solution having water potential of -10Pa?
As the cell is placed in an isotonic solution, there is no net flow of water towards the inside or outside the cell. If the external solution balances the osmotic pressure of the cytoplasm it is said to be isotonic. When kept in such isotonic solution, there is no net flow of water between the cell and solution.
