The transgenic tomato called Flavr - Savr has a much longer shelf-life than conventional tomatoes, because of delayed ripening. Flavr-Savr tomato was created by Agrobacterium mediated gene transformation in which the transfer of T-DNA contained a copy of tomato PG (Polygalacturonase) encoding gene in the antisense orientation.
