Which function is not carried out by a typical underground root?

A normal underground root is involved in anchorage, absorption water and minerals from the soil, conduction of mineral water to aerial parts, storage of food, synthesis of plant growth regulator and at the advent of spring transport of organic food stored in root aerial growing regions of plant for the formation of new leaves. Underground root never fixes CO2 as it can not carry out photosynthesis.
