The term catenation refers to chemical linkage into chains having atoms of same element. The property is visible only in those elements which have the ability to form atleast two covalent bonds. The property is predominant among carbon atoms, significant among sulphur and silicon atoms and slightly present among germanium, nitrogen, selenium and tellurium atom.
