Rusting of Iron involves.
$2Fe + {O_2} + 4{H^ + } \to F{e^{ + 2}} + 2{H_2}O\,;\,{E^o} = 1.67V$
Fe⁺² oxidises in air to form Fe⁺³ which finally forms Fe₂O₃.XH₂O, which is reddish brown in colour.
