Question

Difference in Λmo of KCl and NaCl is ‘X’ mho  cm2  mole1. Difference in Λmo of KNO3 and NaNO3 is ‘Y’  mho  cm2  mole1. Correct relation between ‘X’ and ‘Y’ is

Easy
Solution

According to Kohlrausch,

“The contribution of an ion to the total molar conductance remains the same irrespective of the oppositely charged ion with which it is present in the electrolyte”.

(1) KCl and NaCl  .   .    .    cations are K+ and  Na+ with a common anion Cl-

(2) KNO3 and NaNO3 .   .    .    cations are K+ and  Na+ with a common anion NO3-

So the difference in Λmo is only due to K+ and  Na+ which remains the same in both cases.
