Nernst Equation
Question

\large Z{n_{\left( s \right)}} + \,C{l_2}\left( {1atm} \right)\, \to \,Z{n^{2 + }} + 2C{l^ - }

  The E0 of the cell is 2.12 V. To increase E

Easy
Solution

According to Nernst Equation

E_{cell}\;={E_{cell}^o}-\frac{0.0591}{2}\;log\frac{[Zn^{+2}][Cl^{-}]^{2}}{p{_{Cl_{2}}}}

E_{cell}\;=2.12-\frac{0.0591}{2}\;log\frac{[Zn^{+2}][Cl^{-}]^{2}}{1}

E_{cell}\propto\;-\log{[Zn^{+2}][Cl^{-}]^{2}}

Decrease in concentration of [Zn]+2 and [Cl]- will increase Ecell.

Special note

when all concentrations are constant

E_{cell}\propto\;-\frac{1}{p_{Cl_{2}}}

When pressure of Clincreases Ecell  increases.
